Joining a worldwide movement redefining how cinema is recognized.
Here’s something I’ve been excited to share.
I’m honored to join Global Awards Los Angeles (GALA) as a voting member and ambassador, stepping into a global effort to reshape how cinematic excellence is recognized.
Today, cinema moves faster and farther than ever before. Stories travel across cultures, languages, and audiences with remarkable ease. As a result, they shape shared emotional and cultural experiences worldwide. However, the systems that recognize and elevate those stories have not always evolved at the same pace.
That is exactly where GALA comes in.
By building an international voting body and a globally inclusive framework, the organization actively reflects a simple but powerful principle: if storytelling is global, recognition must be global as well. For me, that perspective aligns naturally with how I understand the present and future of filmmaking.
Recognition Is a Living System
What drew me most strongly to GALA is its philosophy. Rather than preserving recognition as a fixed tradition, the organization treats it as a living system that must evolve alongside the art it honors.
As storytelling expands across borders and mediums, evaluation must expand too. Recognition does far more than celebrate achievement. It influences what receives funding, what reaches audiences, what is preserved, and ultimately what becomes part of our collective cultural memory.
Because of that influence, participation carries real responsibility.
Through my role as a voting member, I contribute directly to how excellence is recognized. At the same time, as an ambassador, I help broaden participation in this global conversation.
Why Participation Matters
Global recognition does not emerge on its own. Instead, people build it through perspective, engagement, and representation.
Every voting voice helps define standards.
Every new member brings cultural insight that deepens understanding.
And every engaged creative professional strengthens the possibility of a recognition model that reflects the true scale and diversity of contemporary cinema.
Ultimately, this is not just about visibility. It is about influence.
Whose work gains attention.
Whose stories rise.
Whose perspectives shape the future of film.
By participating in GALA, we share responsibility for shaping that future.
An Invitation to Those Shaping Cinema
If you work in film or the broader creative industries and believe recognition should reflect the full breadth of global storytelling, I invite you to explore becoming part of this community.
After all, participation drives evolution. Representation gives systems meaning.
